Let It Snow
So I am finally here and attending classes at Columbia University. I live two blocks from the campus and many stops form everything else, which is probably for the better. Today i went "shopping" for classes and had to sit through some very, very boring first days. The first was probably the most entertaining: The History of Sex, this clas
s has nothing whatsoever to do with my studies but seems like a fun class to drop in on once in a while, which I'll probably do every so often. The next class was a little more entertaining but lacked any new stimulus. HIstory of Modern Japan was not only a repeat to my knowledge banks was but taught by my advisor who has yet to get back to me. I'm assuming that staring at her repeatedly and introducing myself after class helped jog her probably heavy mind as to my status. She wasn't very helpful at the time but hopefully my meeting with her tomorrow will give me more insight as to my direction here at Columbia. After an extremely garlicky lunch at mi casa I ventured out to the worst class of all, Anthropology of South Asia. This should be read strictly as India, I'm under the assumption that very little else will be discussed by way of Bangladesh, Pakistan etc. Not only was the teacher boring, but she assigned books that even she couldn't find and had a hard time reading her own syllabus... As i walked out of the last class snow began to fall... it didn't stick, but its a sign that things have only just begun.
